Winter Concert 12/12, assignments, grades, and more!
12/5/2024 2:02 pm
Good afternoon, Milton Orchestra students and families,
We are preparing a fantastic Winter Concert for 7 pm on 12/12! We're working hard in class, but I hope students are finding some joy and festivity in the rehearsal process during these "between-the-breaks" weeks. I know there is a lot going on at the end of the semester, so I appreciate their attentiveness and dedication.
Grades/Assignments
Besides the very quick Sight Reading Factory check in posted previously/due this weekend and our concert, which counts for a major grade, there shouldn't be anything orchestra-related besides makeup work to complete outside of class. Please, check Canvas for all assignment details and missing work, all of which can still be made up to some degree. Makeup instructions are available in assignment details through Canvas for all work. If you're participating in class regularly and play in our concerts, there's no reason to have a less-than-stellar grade in orchestra. If you do, it's very likely from not turning in something that can still be made up for late credit. Don't let perfectionism or fear of playing individually keep you from submitting those- if you don't feel comfortable submitting virtually (which is the default), come see me for extra help and we'll at least get you playing it well enough to earn some credit!
Winter Concert 12/12, 7 pm, MHS Auditorium
We'll be using the band, orchestra, and chorus rooms pre-concert. Watch for signs telling you where to be (by ensemble) and help out 8th graders if you see them.
5 pm Combined rehearsal on stage- mandatory!
6 pm Pizza available (cheese)
6:50 pm In designated places, with instruments (unless you don't play until after intermission), tuned, and dressed in concert attire
Join us for a post-concert reception!
Seat Reservations for concert
When you receive your ticket reservation link from the orchestra boosters (via Membership Toolkit), I recommend selecting seats right away. With 8th graders and their families, it could be a full house. Tickets will be available to the general public beginning December 8th here: https://www.miltonorchestra.org/concerts
Students will be sitting in their regular seats for this concert (with cellos on the outside, not like last time), in case that affects your seat choices. They'll be all over the place for the combined pieces, though.
Volunteers/Donations
Parents, we still need volunteers/donations for the concert: https://www.miltonorchestra.org/volunteer/127761
Vintage Pizzeria Tuesday
Tuesday, 12/10, 5-9 pm: Spirit Night for Milton Orchestra at Vintage Pizzeria. Let them know you're with the orchestra! A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go directly to supporting our talented orchestra students. This includes dine-in or take-out! It’s a fun and easy way to make a difference- plus, who doesn’t love pizza? We hope to see you there!
