Concert 10/3 details (rehearsal schedule and reminders)

9/23/2024 1:32 pm

Good afternoon, Orchestra Families,

CONCERT 10/3:

Our Fall Concert is next Thursday! Details and reminders below (rehearsal timing subject to adjustments):
  • Concerts and concert-day rehearsals are counted as a Major Grade. Students can go home and return or stay through to the rehearsal.  Not every concert requires a same-day rehearsal, but we have some combined orchestra music to prepare.
  • By default, our boosters order enough pizza for 2 slices (cheese) each...let me know if you definitely won't be eating pre-concert pizza so that we don't end up with a ton of extras.
  • Seating reservation links will be released on a rolling basis to booster members and then posted to the website here for everyone: https://www.miltonorchestra.org/concerts
  • Everyone should already have concert attire by now.  Contact Mr. Cummings asap with any questions or if you need to verify that something is appropriate.  We should look professional- read all guidelines carefully (no leisure/athletic shoes, black dress shirts/socks under tux, check sleeve requirements, length requirements for dresses/skirts, etc.): https://www.miltonorchestra.org/attire
Here is the schedule for the day:

*students can arrive in concert attire or change into it between 6 and 6:45 pm.
*you should be warmed up/tuned and in places at the assigned time, not walking in the door..."If you're not 30 minutes early to the gig, you're 20 minutes late." -Ron Carter, legendary bassist

During the day: Students rehearse on stage during their regular orchestra class period
5:15 pm: Required rehearsal (Downton Abbey) on stage for combined Sinfonia and Chamber.
5:30 pm: Required rehearsal (Kashmir) on stage for all 3 combined orchestras.
6 pm: Pizza served for students
6:45 pm: All students should be fully dressed in concert attire
6:55 pm: All students in places
(Concert Orchestra on stage, Sinfonia and Chamber in the designated audience section)
7 pm: Concert begins- all students are required to stay through the end.  The final selection is with all three orchestras combined (but this applies even when that's not the case).

Thanks!

Regards,
